Guess I'm Losin' It

Recently, I have felt absolutely no reason to
blog. There are so many other things I find
taking up my time and these same things are
so much more interesting and important as
opposed to updating this little blog. I think I will
come back to my little corner of the internet in
time, but as for now, I see no reason
to do so. I have noticed that I've really lost
interest in other blogs that involve only topics
like fashion and makeup and health foods.
My life could never be as perfect and lovely
as the lives some bloggers portray
and I'm pretty sure their actual lives aren't
like that either. This is not a good-bye to
my little blog. I think I am just going to put
in on "pause" for now... maybe until life
has dealt me something worthy of sharing
so publicly.

For now, I think I'd rather be outside
longboarding with Neal

Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!"

Henna

Today after one of my summer school classes, my new friend Fakhra did a henna tattoo for me. This one will only last for about a week but she promised to bring the "real stuff" and draw one for me that'll last for 2 or 3 weeks. She's very sweet and EXTREMELY interesting. Her and I are currently taking summer school classes at a local junior college (UIC is too expensive for me in the summer, especially just so I can get 2 gen eds out of the way). Fakhra told me she's planning on transferring to UIC next spring, so hopefully I'll bump into her!

at a distance...

and up close...

I think it is beautiful.. she's so talented! I loved watching her come up with the design as she was doing it and listening to her talk about life in Pakistan, before she moved here a few years ago. She has big plans for herself and she really is the most interesting person I've met in a long time. She told me that we even had a math class together in high school, but she was so quiet back then compared to now that she said I would never have recognized her (which I didn't, at first!)

Anyways, it just goes to show that you meet super cool people in very unlikely places.

Summer Boredom

Being in Summer classes is really a drag. No matter how many times you tell yourself that your getting ahead and doing yourself some good by getting a few gen. eds out of the way in 6 weeks (compared to 3.5 months during the normal school year), you still feel like you're missing out. For example, my boyfriend, Neal, left for Indiana about an hour ago to stay at with his best friend (who is a pilot) for a few days and I can't go because I have classes. Quite the bummer.

So of course to pass some time... and not do my homework... I play with my Photobooth on my MacBook :)

Now that I am taking 2 courses over the Summer, it seems like all my free time is completely gone. Luckily, I'll have less to worry about during my normal Fall and Spring semesters at UIC, so I guess that's pretty cool. But at the moment, all this homework and studying really sucks.

Found this picture on my computer from the other day at Neal's (my boyfriend) house. That one of his family's dogs, JJ. He's probably the cutest dog I know :)

I have a meeting in a few hours with a woman who does business with my Dad's company... I designed her new brochures! It's not artsy and crazy looking (like the UIC graphic design program would like it to be), but I'm very proud of it! Hopefully she likes it too...

Bullying...

It makes me sick that I still see bullying happening at my age. Today I saw students making rude comments and clearly being annoyed with a student in my class who has obvious difficulties/disabilities. It must make them feel so good to insult someone who won't fight back. I cannot believe I sit in classes with "adults" and have to deal with this shit still. It's like high school all over again. Can you imagine the hardships and struggles that student (or any student with a form of a disability, whether it be learning or physical) had to overcome to be sitting in a college level Philosophy class, discussing ethics? Why do people feel they have the right to pass judgement as well as openly insult another student IN CLASS. I hate it. Maybe it's because I was bullied as a kid so I know the feeling... I don't know. What I do know is that I will NEVER stand by and let that happen.

Right when I got home I sent my professor a very strongly opinionated email. I feel like I'm not good with direct confrontation with people if something isn't being directed at me, otherwise I would have liked to confront the individuals directly. Either way, we'll see tomorrow if my professor actually read my email and takes the proper steps in assuring that this behavior is not tolerated in a learning environment.

Jeez, people can be really mean. It's extremely disappointing.

Random pretty things

These are the things I think are pretty right now...

New shoes from Target (LOVE that color so much. I know it's "the color" right now, but it's so gorgeous). And my cousin repinned this on Pintrest, and I thought it was so cute, so I did my own crappy version :)

The Beach...

Well... the closest thing we have to a beach :)

Neal and I decided to do something spontaneous yesterday. We drove up towards the Wisconsin boarder to Zion, Illinois (a good hour and a half away), where there is a glorious beach along Lake Michigan. It was the most perfect day I've had in a long time. The weather was warm, but not scalding hot. There were big fluffy clouds in a beautiful baby blue sky. It was like a dream. We relaxed in the sun for hours, walked along the shoreline, and collected some cool rocks. All in all, it was just the absolute best!

Neal hates having his photo taken, so he snapped a ton of me. (So I apologize for the overload of pictures of myself). I really dig this last photo especially because it's a bit over exposed. I would definitely recommend this beach if you're ever in the area! It's about an hour south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (which is where we headed for dinner that same day).
